It was almost a great comeback by Lichfield as we entertained Bilston in the Central League last Wednesday night (4th February).

Things were looking bleak from the off as we got off to a bad start at both ends of the line up, with James playing at 5 and John playing at 1 both succumbing to more accurate and consistent opponents 3-0.

Ben playing at 2 and John at 4 then got us well and truly back in the tie with commanding 3-1 and 3-0 wins respectively.

It was then down to Nick at 3 to try to seal a fantastic comeback win, but this looked like a dim and distant prospect as his wily opponent raced to a 2-0 lead with lots of deft touch shots. Nick then stormed back into it with his usual great retrieving, taking the next 2 to set up what looked like being a tense decider. However, the exertions of coming back from the death were too much and Nick went out with a bit of a whimper in the decider 9-0, sealing the overall win for Bilston 3-2 (15-8).

Well played Bilston and thanks for an enjoyable match. We look forward to doing battle again in the Summer League.

Onward to our next match, Wolverhampton away on Tuesday 17th February, which will be a massive challenge given their form, but as ever, we are up for it. #GoLichfield
