Lichfield Squash Club and Tempest Ford Lichfield have announced an exciting new partnership to work together in order to promote the sport of squash locally, as well as the Tempest brand.

The tie up will see Tempest’s branding appear on the club’s new apparel, a comprehensive range of which is currently being developed with Four Oaks based team sports clothing producer, IPROSPORTS. In addition, the club will promote the Tempest brand via its website, club newsletter and social media channels.

As is their way, through this partnership Tempest Ford is determined to not just be a passive partner through seeking to support the club in a variety of further ways. In addition to offering prizes and incentives to members, they will also make a welcome £100 contribution to the club’s funds each time someone connected with the club purchases a new or used car via the dealership. This is set to provide a much needed financial boost for the club allowing it to further develop its range of activities and initiatives to encourage increased membership and more people to take up or play squash. To secure the £100 contribution, just mention your connection to Lichfield Squash Club at the time of placing your order – this can include any kind of connection, be that a member, friend or family of a member, partner organisation or anyone picking up on the offer via our marketing channels.

Tempest also plans to support the club’s series of events held throughout the year, and particularity our club nights, the next of which takes place on Tuesday 15th September at 7.20pm at King Edward VI Leisure Centre. At this next Cub Night, there will be a ‘Figure of 8 Challenge’, in which players will try to complete as many ‘figure of 8’ volleys as they can. This involves hitting the ball into the front 2 corners of the court consecutively without the ball touching the floor. Tempest Ford will provide a range of prizes for the best performers.

In addition, Tempest will be working with the Club to promote World Squash Day, an annual global event when the world’s squash community comes together to promote the sport of squash, increase participation and at the same time raise money for charity. This year, World Squash Day will take place on Saturday 10th October, when Clubs up and down the country and over the whole world will be organising a wide variety of events to promote the game. The event is also this year raising funds for Unicef UK, who work support children in danger across the globe. Last year on World Squash Day, 2 members of Lichfield Squash Club completed the ‘7 Clubs Challenge’, playing 7 consecutive matches at 7 different clubs in just 7 hours. Discussions are underway to potentially expand this challenge to cover the clubs who hosted a match last year, with Tempest looking at the possibility of providing transport for the Lichfield players on the day.

Brian Carruthers, Managing Director of Tempest Ford commented ‘As a family run business with family values, we are always keen to support our local community in any way we can and are delighted to be involved with Lichfield Squash Club to encourage more people to take up the game and get fitter and more active. As such, this represents an excellent fit for our business’.

James Roberts, Chairman of Lichfield Squash Club added ‘We are so pleased to have secured the support of a business like Tempest who are so well known for supporting local business and good causes. Squash has been demonstrated to be the ‘world’s healthiest sport’ and is on the cusp of a resurgence in popularity due to an exciting professional World Tour which is now also televised via BT Sport. In addition, there is also the possibility of the sport being accepted into the Olympic programme for the Tokyo 2020 games, which would prove to be a huge boost to the sport. As such, it is an exciting time for Tempest to get involved in helping to promote our great sport’.
